But yeah, It helps you gain access to data, cameras, places etc. With some actual combat skills as well (not adept though). Returns is the only game in the series where I recommend playing decker on the first run. It sounds interesting but i'm not one for playing as a support role. I'm not sure if adept is the best option for first playthrough but there's really nothing wrong with it either.Ĭan anyone explain the decker to me? I avoid videos and certain articles just mention the matrix and hacking. Lore-wise does an adept elf make sense, especially a melee adept? Thoughts on an adept elf? I read that the dodge from its quickness helps in survival so it's not really wasted. From memory their highest is 6 when other classes have 9 or more. Trolls get a huge body bonus but IIRC their charisma, intelligence and willpower are very low when maxed. However the only one where this makes a huge difference is troll which really only suits a street sam. I think these are explained when you're making you character. Different classes have different stat ceilings and some get bonuses to some skills. They do matter tiny bit in the builds though. Especially Returns is a game that is a bit clumsy in everything and it has a mission that is bit on a harder side if you don't have specific skills (at least for a first-timer) so I would probably play Returns on normal and then when you jump into Dragonfall and Hong Kong (the 2 far superior games to Returns) you can start with hard.ĭo races matter in game? Both interaction/choices and difficulty/buildsĭifficulty no. Though on the first run normal is absolutely fine. If I'm familiar with games like this (does underrail count?) can i start on hard or is hard a big leap and that normal still presents a challenge? And I would recommend getting at least 2 etiquettes. However adept with couple of points in shamanism (enough to get the totem bonus) is fine. Shaman + Adept might draw your skill points a bit far. The archetypes help you in choosing the core skills. You are gonna get your ass whooped if you try to level everything up. However this game doesn't serve jack-of-all-trades. You can absolutely do a character that you want. With that in mind, am I allowed to branch out with say an mainly an adept + shaman for buffs? I'm under the impression that classes (or archetypes, this the correct term?) are essentially just pre-made and that you can opt for your own custom. I have 39 hours in Shadowrun Returns and I've played it through 3-4 times. How long is the game? from hltb it says the length is on average 20 hours or so.
